Chandigarh, April 21

The Federation of Sectors Welfare Association Chandigarh (FOSWAC) has condemned the Municipal Corporation for sending notices related to house tax collection.

The executive committee meeting of the FOSWAC was held under the chairmanship of Baljinder Singh Bittu today.

Bittu said the MC had not maintained proper record for the house tax collection in the city. Notices were sent to residents without caring to see whether they had paid property tax or not.

Fines were being imposed arbitrarily, said the FOSWAC chairman.

He said the civic body has wasted crores of rupees unnecessarily on unwanted projects in the past. The MC has failed to solve the water supply problem in the city.

The dumping ground issue has not been addressed to date and no step has been taken to solve parking problem.

KS Panchhi appealed to the members that they must exercise their constitutional right of voting in the 2019 General Election. If they do not find any suitable candidate, they can vote for NOTA, he said.

The Election Department gave demonstration on the working of the EVMs in the House.
