Ambala, February 22

The Ambala police have booked four persons for allegedly detaining labourers, not paying their wages and using derogatory remarks against them. The suspects have been identified as Monu, Umesh, Sarvesh and Anil.

The case has been registered on the orders of the National Commission for Scheduled Caste.

According to information, Akal Singh, a resident of Muzaffarnagar, had approached the commission in October last year. In his complaint, Akal Singh alleged that “I, along with my family members and co-workers, have been working as labourers at a brick-kiln at Kurali village in Naraingarh. The suspects had illegally detained the labourers and also not paid their wages. Therefore, the matter was reported to the Chairman, Haryana Human Rights Commission, Haryana, as well as to the Deputy Commissioner, Ambala, on October 22 last year. Somehow, the suspects came to know about the complaint and mercilessly beat up the labourers and asked them to immediately leave the brick-kiln premises without their luggage, otherwise they will be killed by throwing in the furnace of the brick-kiln.”

He also alleged that on October 28, 2016, Anil Kumar, a resident of Lohsana village of UP, along with Umesh and Sarvesh, had forcibly detained his son-in-law for about 5 hours, abused him at his brick-kiln at Lohsana village of Muzaffarnagar (UP) in front of public and also slapped his son-in-law.

The case has been registered under Sections 342, 379, 406, 452, 506 and 34 of the IPC and Sections 3(1) (x) of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act at the Naraingarh police station.
