Girl student alleges rape

Acting on the complaint of a Chandigarh-based girl student, the Zirakpur police have registered an FIR against her senior schoolmate under Section 376 of the IPC and the POSCO Act.

Earlier, a zero FIR was registered at the Sector 31 police station in Chandigarh on December 3. The case was later transferred to the Zirakpur police as the incident took place in Zirakpur, as alleged by the victim. The suspect has been identified as Rohit Aggarwal.

The victim, in her complaint to the police, had alleged that she was known to a boy, Rohit Aggarwal, from her previous school at Behlana, Chandigarh. She stated that on September 29, she, along with her friends Prathiba, Rohit Aggarwal and Satish, went to Zirakpur to celebrate Prathiba’s birthday at a hotel here.

She alleged that during their stay in the hotel, the suspect, Rohit Aggarwal, made physical relations with her. She also stated that on October 11, the suspect had thrown his birthday party where he again made physical relations with her.

Acting on the complaint of the victim, the police have started verifying the facts levelled against the suspect in the FIR.

Paramjit Kaur, woman investigation officer, said medical examination of the victim was conducted today. Her swab samples would be sent for further investigation. Next course of action would be taken as per the medical report.
