State Cooperation Minister Manish Grover unfurled the National Flag at the Independence Day function here on Wednesday. Earlier, the minister paid obeisance at the Martyrs’ Memorial in Sector 12.

In his address, Grover said under Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and with the vision of Pt Deen Dyal Upadhyay, the state government had in the last four years worked without any bias on the basis of caste and region or nepotism. “There is zero tolerance against corruption and transparency was paramount in the functioning of the government. We have worked for farmers, labourers and women,” he said.

As many as 58 persons, who excelled in the fields of sports, education, government service and social service, were honoured on the occasion. The prominent among the awardees are Inspector Aman Kumar and Inspector Arvind Kamboj.

While being posted in the crime branch, Inspector Aman Kumar played an instrumental role in solving the Haryana Subordinate Services Commission case, the Morni gang-rape case, the Kalka murder in which INTUC and BJP leaders were allegedly involved and the arrest of gangster Bhupi Rana and his aides. While being posted in the crime branch, Inspector Arvind Kamboj played a key role in the arrest of Bhupi Rana and the recovery of 15 motorcycles from vehicle thieves.

Anshuman (10), a taekwondo player, was honoured on the 72nd Independence Day in Panchkula. A student of The Gurukul, Sector 20, he has an impressive tally of medals.
