Gupta tells P’kula civic body to complete development works worth Rs136 crore

Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Gian Chand Gupta held an emergency meeting with officials of the Municipal Corporation (MC) to review the ongoing development works in Panchkula today.

The MC submitted the report card on development works worth Rs 136 crore and the Speaker gave instructions to complete these works as early as possible.

Besides report, the MC also briefed Gupta about the ongoing campaign to remove encroachments in the city. Municipal Commissioner-cum-Administrator Rajesh Jogpal, Executive Officer Jarnail Singh and Engineering Department officials were also present at the review meeting.

Gupta said development works should be completed as early as possible keeping in view the public interest.

Jogpal informed Gupta that problems of Nada, Ramgarh, Jaisingh Pura and Billa villages, which came up at the open court held in Sector 23 had been solved. “Development works worth Rs 136 crore is currently in the pipeline in which sewage treatment plants under the AMRUT scheme are being built in the rural areas,” Jogpal added.

“The foundation stone of the MC building is to be laid in Sector 3 soon. Road from Upper Chowki to Lower Chowki villages, rehabilitation centre for stray dogs and community centres are to be constructed at Jalauli, Dabkori, Khatoli and Manakyan villages. Cremation ghats are to be built in different villages,” Jogpal said.

“Community centre will be renovated in Sector 7. Senior citizen building will be constructed in Sector 27 and cycle tracks will be laid in the bell corridor under non-motorised traffic. Slaughter houses will be built at a cost of Rs 10 crore each in the industrial areas of Pinjore, Kalka and Panchkula,” Jogpal added.

Gupta instructed the MC authorities to immediately implement the vending policy in Panchkula city so that those, who were involved in the survey, could be allotted sites.

Officials of the MC said only few sites were allotted to them by the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) while some sites were yet to be allotted. The MC has been given space for vending zones in Sectors 2, 4, 10, 11, 12, 15 and 19 by the HSVP. The vending site will be allotted at these places soon. Later, the vending policy will be implemented at different places throughout the city. Gupta instructed officials of the HSVP to transfer that land to the MC where places had been marked for vendors.
