Harbhajan Singh will lead the Punjab T20 team in the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, the Punjab Cricket Association said here on Monday.
Yuvraj Singh and young Shubman Gill, who made his India debut against New Zealand recently, have also been inducted into the 15-member squad.
Punjab will though miss the services of leg-spinner Mayank Markande and right-arm medium pacer Siddharth Kaul, who have been included in the Indian team for the upcoming Australian series.
Left-arm spinner Karan Kaila and Krishan have been brought in as their replacements, the sports body said here on Monday.
Punjab have been placed in Group C and will play hosts Madhya Pradesh in their opening match on February 21 at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.
The side will take on Mumbai on February 22 before locking horns with Saurashtra on February 24.
All-rounder Abhishek Sharma (Sunrisers Hyderabad), left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh (KXIP) and left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar (KXIP) are the prominent names missing from the Punjab team. Notably, PCA had no conditioning camp or trial or any major T20 tournament before announcing the team. — TNS
