Haryana continued their unbeaten run to cement their place in the quarterfinals of the Junior Girls’ National Football Championship in Kolhapur today.

Haryana beat West Bengal 3-0 to get their second consecutive win in Group D. Ritu opened the team’s account in the 30th minute, while Kamna doubled the lead in the 41st minute. After the break, Haryana scored their third goal through skipper Raveena in the 81st minute. In another match of the same group, Arunachal Pradesh registered a 1-0 win against Karnataka. The only goal of the match came in the 8th minute through Kai Rumi. 

Jharkhand also continued their free-scoring run in the competition as they registered a 10-0 win over Uttar Pradesh in Group A.  Sumati Kumari was on fire for Jharkhand as she scored eight goals (10th minute, 12th minute, 44th minute, 49th minute, 51st minute, 57th minute, 86th minute, 93rd minute). Astam Oraon (52nd minute) and Santoshi Kumari (91st minute) scored one goal apiece to complete the tally.

Tamil Nadu made their way into the quarterfinals by registering a 2-1 win over Delhi in Group B. The first half of the match ended goalless. Priyadarshini opened the scoring for Tamil Nadu in the 49th minute, but seven minutes later it was cancelled out by Aveka Singh. In 74th minute, Mariyammal B scored the winning goal from a free-kick. Manipur registered a 4-0 victory over Goa in Group C. It was their second win on the trot.

Striker S Lynda Kom got a hat-trick, scoring in the 23rd minute, 40th minute and 46th minute. Naorem Priyangka Devi added the fourth goal in the 49th minute as her team moved to the top of the group. In another match, Tripura claimed three points by registering a hard-earned 1-0 win against Uttarakhand. The match looked to be headed towards a stalemate but Anjali Debbarma scored from the spot two minutes from time to give her side the win.
