High drama as ‘kidnapping’ of girl foiled in Mohali

High drama was witnessed when a passerby rescued a young girl by overpowering a youngster, who, along with his friend, had kidnapped her.

The youngster was identified as Pritpal Singh, while his accomplice managed to flee. The incident occurred on the road separating Phases IV and V. The accused and the girl belong to Hoshiarpur. The girl, who was found gagged and having her hands tied, was spotted in the parked car by a passerby.

The youngsters had to park their car at the spot as it ran out of fuel. “She was knocking the windowpane of the car while one of the youngsters was talking over the phone. The other went in search of fuel,” said sources.

When the passerby helped her to come out of the car, the victim said she was kidnapped by the youngsters from Hoshiarpur.

Immediately, the youngster was overpowered by the passerby. The victim told the police that she was being harassed by one of the youngsters, who was earlier known to her. She told the police that the duo kidnapped her in the morning and were going to some undisclosed location. “We have handed over the accused and the victim to Hoshiarpur police. No action has been taken by us,” said Harbir Singh Atwal, SP (Detective), Mohali. — TNS
