As many as 200 allottees of industrial plots at Sector 101 in IT City are upset over the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) for delay in possession of their properties.

Most of the allottees had started receiving the letter of intent (LOI) in mid-2017. In the LOI, it was mentioned that the possession of the plots would be handed over to the allottees within a period of one year after the issuance of the LOI.

“Nearly five months have passed since we got the LOI, but we are yet to get any intimation regarding the possession of our properties from the GMADA authorities,” said IM Kaur, an owner of 500 square yard industrial plot.

Similarly, another allottee claimed that as per set timeframe by the GMADA, the possession of his plot should have been given to him in mid-2018.

“When all payments are being made in time by the allottees then why are we left to suffer for no fault of ours,” said the allottees.

It is to be noted that the GMADA had held a draw of lots for 200 industrial plots in 2016.

The scheme for the total 200 plots (145 plots measuring 500 square yards and 55 plots measuring 1,000 square yards) was launched on October 3, 2016, and closed on October 28 in 2016.

The allottees are also miffed as the GMADA authorities have not yet started development works at the site. Some of the owners claimed that they wanted to start their venture here, but were helpless due to the unnecessary delay on the part of the authorities.

“The government should develop the area rapidly due to its close proximity to the international airport,” said IM Kaur.

When contacted, Rajesh Dhiman, Additional Chief Administrator, said some necessary clearances delayed the possession. “Now, all required formalities have been completed. We will soon hand over the possession to the owners and start development work at the site,” said Dhiman.
