An insect was found in khichri prepared in-house by the GMSH-16, today.

A local woman, who delivered a child recently, had been kept under observation for 11 days in the hospital as it was a Caesarean delivery. Today, while having lunch (khichri), which is served to patients free of cost, she found an insect in it.

Her family and relatives raised the matter with the authorities after which an inquiry was marked. Sources said it was a serious matter as the diet was prepared by the GMSH’s department of dietetics.

“The Director, Health Services, has marked an inquiry on a complaint received from an attendant of the patient. The inquiry has been marked to the HoD, ENT, to verify the facts and submit a report within a week,” said Dr Paramjeet Singh, Deputy Medical Superintendent.

Officials said if it was found true, action would be taken against those preparing food and an explanation would be sought from them.
