Ludhiana youth gets 4-yr jail for murder bid, two acquitted

CHANDIGARH: The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge court today sentenced a Ludhiana resident to four years in jail in an attempt-to-murder case.

The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge court today sentenced a Ludhiana resident to four years in jail in an attempt-to-murder case.

Nitin Jethi was convicted on Friday, while two other accused, Sherry and Mansimran, were acquitted in the case for want of evidence.

According to the prosecution, head constable Kailash saw two or three youths quarrelling with a bouncer near the parking of Buzz Disc in Sector 17 around 2 am on January 18, 2015.

In the meantime, he heard gunshots and rushed to the spot. He saw Nitin holding a revolver in his right hand. The cop tried to nab the youth, but he managed to fire a shot at Rahul, the bouncer, on his left foot. Nitin escaped from the spot, but later he was caught from near the parking of Taj Hotel.

Sherry and Mansimran, who accompanied Nitin, escaped from spot in a Swift car. They were later arrested by the police.

A case under Section 307 of the IPC was registered against the accused.
