Man attacks wife with knife, arrested

LALRU: A 27-year-old woman sustained injuries after her husband allegedly attacked her with a knife at Handesera, near Lalru, on Wednesday.

A 27-year-old woman sustained injuries after her husband allegedly attacked her with a knife at Handesera, near Lalru, on Wednesday. The police have arrested the suspect identified as Gulzar Shah, a resident of Handesera village.

The victim identified as Nagma had been married to Gulzar Shah for about nine years. They had two children, said the police.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the couple was not on good terms for the last one year. The police said the suspect attacked his wife with a knife multiple times near her neck.

The victim told the police that her husband Gulzar entered the room and in a fit of rage allegedly attacked her with a knife. The victim was rushed to the GMCH, Sector 32, Chandigarh, where she was undergoing treatment.

On the victim’s statement, the police have registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC, including an attempt to murder, in this connection. Further probe is on.
