Mohali: A 35-year-old man has been arrested with 100 gm of heroin near the Phase 9 petrol pump here. The suspect has been identified as Deepak Kumar, a resident of Machlikalan village, Mohali. The police said Deepak was a drug addict. They said he was carrying the drug in a packet, which he threw on seeing a police team. Observing his suspicious movement, he was intercepted and 100 gm of heroin was recovered from him, said the police. A case under Section 21 of the NDPS Act has been registered against him at the Phase VIII police station. He was produced in a local court, which remanded him in one-day police custody. tns
