CHANDIGARH:Manipur claimed the overall trophy by winning 69 gold, 22 silver and seven bronze medals in the seventh Thang-Ta Federation Cup.

Chandigarh, August 12

Manipur claimed the overall trophy by winning 69 gold, 22 silver and seven bronze medals in the seventh Thang-Ta Federation Cup. Jammu and Kashmir emerged as the runners-up with 23 gold, 35 silver and 14 bronze medals. 

Haryana finished third with 3 gold, 11 silver and 14 bronze medals. Shalmali Dayaneshwari Gurav of Maharashtra was declared the best fighter girl and Mohit Sharma of Delhi was adjudged the best fighter boy. Bhuvnesh Singh Katoch of Himachal Pradesh was declared the best referee.

Netrajit Singh of Manipur claimed the gold in the 46kg category of Phunaba Ama event on the concluding day. Rupam Sharma of Assam won the silver, while Srayam Roy of West Bengal claimed the bronze. 

In the 50kg category, Manipur's Denish claimed the top spot, while Sandeep finished second. Suhail of Jammu and Kashmir won the first position in the 54kg category, while L Shital Singh of Manipur claimed the silver medal. In the 58kg category, Mani and Jahangir claimed the top-two positions, respectively. In the 62kg category, Ahtisham and Bikash Sharma claimed the first and second positions, respectively. Lucky won the 66kg category gold by defeating Amandeep. Kuldeep Kumar of Haryana bagged the bronze medal. In the 70kg category, Suraj Roy, Mehraj-ud-Din and Anand claimed the top-three positions, respectively. In the 75kg category, Somojit Singh and Sahil Ahmad Bhat won the top-two positions, respectively. In the 80kg category, Duhesh Singh and Maqsood Singh finished with the gold and silver medal, respectively. —TNS
