Patiala, December 4
A two-day standoff between the Municipal Corporation (MC) employees and officials came to an end today after Commissioner Poonamdeep Kaur, suspended Jatinder Kumar Prince, a complainant employee.
Residents had to bear the brunt of the tussle as cleanliness workers failed to lift household waste, which piled up in the past couple of days. The civic body workers began to collect and dispose garbage scattered in the open.
Mangat Kalyan, president, Class IV workers, said the protest was lifted after the Commissioner suspended Jatinder.
Earlier, Jatinder had alleged that two MC officials had made racist remarks against him and he complained to the senior officials.
Commissioner Poonamdeep Kaur said, “We have conducted a preliminary investigation against Jatinder and he has been suspended for now.”
