MC issues notification for fire NOC

CHANDIGARH:The Chandigarh MC has issued a notification of imposing fee for issuance of a no-objection certificate (NOC) from theFire Department.

The Chandigarh MC has issued a notification of imposing fee for issuance of a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Fire Department.

As per the notification, the NOC will be issued for three years and in case the ownership or trade changes, the owners will have to seek a fresh fire inspection certificate soon.

The owners of commercial buildings will have to pay a fee ranging from Rs 2,500 to Rs 5,000 on the basis of the size of their plot.

The fee will be charged from all commercial establishments such as multiplexes, cinema halls, malls, gas agencies, hotels, marriage palaces, educational institutions and hospitals. Private societies, commercial booths and shops will also be covered under the new rule.

The decision to charge fee was taken in the General House meeting of the Municipal Corporation last month. The NOC has also been mandatory for all buildings covered under the Fire Safety Act.
