Chandigarh: All OPDs at the PGI will remain closed on February 19 on account of Guru Ravidas Jayanti, a gazetted holiday. Emergency services will, however, function as usual.
Twin titles for shuttler Madhu
Chandigarh: Madhu Mann won two gold medals in the recently-held All-India Civil Services Badminton Championship at Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune. Madhu, a lecturer at Government Polytechnic College for Women, Sector 10, beat Sandhya Rani Bandagar of Maharashtra in the women’s singles final, while she combined with B Shaw of Gujarat to defeat Sonal and Sandhya Rani of Maharashtra in the women’s doubles title clash. Chandigarh: Kapil Punia took two wickets before hammering a quick-fire half-century to help Chandigarh Police defeat Transmed Kings XI by five wickets in a Champions Corporate Cricket Trophy match here on Monday. Electing to bat, Transmed Kings were all out for 105 runs in 17.5 overs. Ranjeet Gill made 26 runs, while Rajdeep Singh added 19 runs to the total. Ramandeep, Balwinder and Kapil Punia claimed two wickets each. In reply, Chandigarh Police reached home in 13 overs with five wickets in hand. Punia hammered a 32-ball 62, while Hari Om hit 22 off 17 balls. Siddharth claimed three wickets, while Jacob took two wickets for Transmed Kings. TNS
