Mission heads feted

CHANDIGARH:A total of fifteen Heads of Mission were honoured by World Punjabi Organisation (WPO) during a felicitation ceremony organised by the Chandigarh Chapter of World Punjabi Organisation on Sunday at a city hotel.

A total of fifteen Heads of Mission were honoured by World Punjabi Organisation (WPO) during a felicitation ceremony organised by the Chandigarh Chapter of World Punjabi Organisation on Sunday at a city hotel.

According to RS Sachdeva, WPO, Chandigarh Chapter, the event was aimed to apprise the diplomats about the Punjabi and its diasporas across the world for their notable contribution in all walk of lives.

He said the non-political and profitable body — WPO is derivation of Punjabis, which was launched in 1998 by then Prime Minister IK Gujral to engaged in promoting Punjabi brotherhood, folk & culture to foster social, economical and cultural bonding among Punjabis settled across the world.

Earlier, Devender Singh Thapar, Honarary Secretary, WPO welcomed the diplomats from various countries along with their wives.
