Murder bid co-accused arrested

CHANDIGARH:The UT police have arrested the second accused in a case of assault on a city shopkeeper.

The UT police have arrested the second accused in a case of assault on a city shopkeeper.

The accused, Jai Parkash, was arrested from his house in Delhi. 

In his complaint to the police, Tarsem Jain had alleged that two unknown persons riding a Hyundai Creta thrashed him with an iron rod and threatened him with a pistol near Rajdhani Society in Sector 49 here on February 13. The victim had sustained injuries in the attack and was admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32 here.

On the basis of the complaint, a case was registered under Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 25-54-59 of the Arms Act at the Sector 49 police station.

Earlier, the police had arrested a notorious criminal, Sandeep, alias Kala, in the case. He has around 28 cases of murder, attempt to murder, robbery, arms etc registered against him in Delhi and Haryana.

The police said the Creta car used in the crime had been recovered.
