An annual award function-2018 was organised by the Chandigarh Senior Citizens Association Chapter 6 at the Guru Nanak Public School- 36 auditorium here today. The highlight of the programme was a soulful vocal spell by music maestro Dolly Guleria.
After a welcome of dignitaries and members by chapter president SS Lamba, accredited social activist Dolly Guleria opened up with rendition of ‘shlokas’ of Baba Farid before doling out her hit songs like ‘Ambarsar de papad’, ‘Mavavn te dhiyan di dosti ‘, a qawwali numa bandish and lot more. Besides local artistes Shakun Parbhakar, Anmol, Capt GS Ghuman , Sahib Noor, Nidhi and Sudha Ojha also presented songs during the programme.
The life achievement awards for excellence in their respective fields were presented to senior journalist Gobid Thukral, Dolly Guleria, Poet Ashok Bhandari ‘Nadir’, Sikh history researcher Prof Gurdarshan Singh Dhillon, Punjabi author Bhadur Singh Ghosal. Guest of honour Vivek Atray IAS ( retd), chapter president SS Lamba and other dignitaries.
Also social service awards were given RK Garg,VP Parbhakar, Aneesh Bhanot and Sudeep Rawat. The campaign to make ‘Plastic free chandigarh’ was launched on the occasion.
