CHANDIGARH: An elderly couple riding a Maruti car had a narrow escape after the vehicle caught fire at the Sector 7/8 roundabout on Madhya Marg this afternoon.

An elderly couple riding a Maruti car had a narrow escape after the vehicle caught fire at Sector 7/8 roundabout on Madhya Marg, on Monday afternoon.

An elderly couple riding a Maruti car had a narrow escape after the vehicle caught fire at the Sector 7/8 roundabout on Madhya Marg this afternoon.

The incident took place when Ram Parkash Grover (74) and his wife were going in their Maruti car. As soon as they reached the Sector 7/8 roundabout, the car caught fire. Fortunately, the couple managed to come out of the car safely.

The Fire Department was informed about the incident at 1.11 pm after which a fire engine was rushed to the spot. By the time the firefighters doused the flames, the car was completely burnt. The incident also led to traffic snarls on Madhya Marg after which traffic had to be diverted for some time.
