National alliance flays govt for ‘failing’ to check scams

PATIALA:Paramjit Singh Kainth, president, National Scheduled Castes Alliance, today convened a meeting at Shri Guru Ravidas Bhawan, Patiala, to discuss the violation of the rights of the Scheduled Caste community.

Patiala, October 20

Paramjit Singh Kainth, president, National Scheduled Castes Alliance, today convened a meeting at Shri Guru Ravidas Bhawan, Patiala, to discuss the violation of the rights of the Scheduled Caste community.

He blamed the state government, led by Captain Amarinder Singh and his Cabinet, for not being diligent enough in investigating and prosecuting those who create fake certificates to get admission to schools, colleges and gaining jobs which are reserved for the Scheduled Castes.

Kainth gave an example of the ‘Alampur’ case, wherein three persons belonging to the Rajput community forged fake Scheduled Caste certificate to gain reservation.

“This case is just a minor example of a horde of other similar cases where people have forged fake certificates to get government jobs. In Punjab, such fake certificates have even been used in villages to contest elections on the reserved Panchayat seat and to gain one-third common village land reserved for the SC community,” said Kainth.

The meeting was an initiation of a campaign against “injustice” meted out against the Scheduled Castes community. Kainth advised the government to set up a ‘vigilance monitoring committee’, which shall take note of employment scams in such cases and also punish those forging documents.  — TNS
