Nepal native gets 20 years in jail for raping minor

CHANDIGARH: A local court today sentenced a 54-year-old Nepal native to 20-year imprisonment for abducting and raping a 15-year-old girl in 2018.

A local court today sentenced a 54-year-old Nepal native to 20-year imprisonment for abducting and raping a 15-year-old girl in 2018. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 2.50 lakh on the convict.

Krishan Lamba has been convicted under Sections 363 (abduction) and 376 (iii) (rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The case dates back to November 4, 2018, when Krishan Lamba was booked on the complaint of the victim’s father. He approached the police after his daughter went missing on November 3.

The victim’s father, in his complaint to the police, had stated that his daughter, a student of Class IX, did not return home. When he could not trace her, he approached the police and filed a complaint of abduction. Three days later, the police recovered the girl and the convict from Shamli, Uttar Pradesh.

The victim’s statement was recorded. As per the statement, she was sexually assaulted at a hotel in Kajheri, Sector 52, in Chandigarh by the convict. He was arrested on charge of rape and under the POCSO Act.
