The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) on Tuesday released its manifesto for the Panjab University Campus Students’ Council (PUCSC) election. It has called for the evaluation of teachers at all university departments.
“Teachers’ evaluation is a must to improve the standard of education,” said Manoj Lubana, NSUI leader.
The party, which is a students’ wing of the Congress, has called for a seat for the student council president in the Senate to raise students’ issues.
Smart classrooms at all departments, regular faculty, round-the-clock availability of e-rickshaws and street lights in Sectors 25 and 14 are on party’s agenda.
For AC Joshi Library, the NSUI says it would work for enhancing the seating capacity and provisions of e-books and book shop.
The NSUI has also sought expert cooks, dress code, awareness programmes for workers and deep freezers for hostel canteens. It has asked for a vigilance committee to monitor food quality.
It has called for more computers at all university departments. “The PhD scholars, who are paying the house rent allowance, should be allowed to use electrical appliances like kettles, laptops and hair dryers in hostels for free,” said Lubana.
The NSUI has also demanded new hostels.
