The Mohali police on Friday arrested another accused involved in selling a 35-year-old woman for Rs 2.50 lakh. The police have already arrested two people involved in the crime.
The accused has allegedly sold the woman to a Harayana resident but victim somehow managed to escape.
The accused have been identified as Bheem Singh, a resident of Haryana; Kamaljeet Singh, cousin of the victim, and Sukhdev Singh, uncle of the victim.
The police said Sukhdev Singh and his son Kamaljeet Singh, both residents of Mohali, had sold the victim to Bheem Singh on the pretext of marriage. A case has been registered under Sections 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person), 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage, etc), 343 (wrongful confinement for three or more days) and 120-b (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC at the Phase 11 police station.
