PGI doc to get national award

CHANDIGARH:Dr Sunil K Arora, Professor, Department of Immunopathology, PGIMER, has been selected for the Senior Scientist Oration Award by the Indian Immunology Society.

Dr Sunil K Arora, Professor, Department of Immunopathology, PGIMER, has been selected for the Senior Scientist Oration Award by the Indian Immunology Society.

The award will be conferred on him during the 42nd Annual Conference of the Indian Immunology Society at Translational Health Science & Technology Institute (THSTI), Faridabad, from November 1 to November 3. 

Dr Arora did his PhD in immunology from the PGI, followed by post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Centre in San Antonio, Texas, USA. He joined the PGI as faculty in 1993 and became a professor in 2008. His major research contributions include identification of novel vaccine candidates for leishmaniasis and characterisation of a molecule having very high immunomodulatory potential. 

Dr Arora has also been elected as the president of the Indian Immunology Society for a two year term and will take over the charge of this office during the General Body Meeting of the society during the annual conference.
