The Centre for Police Administration, PU, organised ‘Shaheedon ko Naman’ to mark Police Commemoration Day here today.
Prof Shankarji Jha, Dean, University Instructions, lauded the role of the police in maintaining peace and order in society and joined the students and faculty in paying homage to the brave police martyrs by offering flowers.
Hemant Kumar, DIG, Border Security Force, traced the history of Police Commemoration Day and said on October 21, 1959, a patrol party of the CRPF was ambushed by the Chinese Army in Hot Springs, Ladakh, in which 10 soldiers were martyred. Since then, the day is commemorated to pay homage to the police martyrs. He motivated the students to join the police force.
Prof Anil Monga, Chairperson (Officiating), Centre for Police Administration, said every year, the Centre for Police Administration organises a blood donation camp to pay homage to the martyrs.
