Chandigarh, April 18
The Panjab University Alumni Association (PUAA), in collaboration with the Department of Urdu, Panjab University, conducted a seminar to commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of Padma Shri awardee Janab Kashmiri Lal Zakir here today.
The seminar took place at Golden Jubilee Hall of the PU. A large number of literary personalities from the region converged at the hall. A 'ghazal' recital by Bollywood playback singer Vinod Sehgal was part of the event. The inaugural session started with ‘nazms’ by Shams Tabrizi, which highlighted the importance and aim of the seminar held in the memory of the poet.
Prof Karamjeet Singh, Registrar, Panjab University, addressed the audience. Abul Kalam Qasmi , professor at AMU, Aligarh , was the chief guest of the programme. Dr GS Aujla, former DGP of Punjab, was also present on the occassion.
