Teachers associated with the Punjabi University Contractual Teachers Association (PUCTA) here continued their protest on the campus, demanding full pay scale.

The teachers held various protests on the campus and also sat outside the Vice-Chancellor’s (VC) office.

The teachers had on Tuesday expressed dissatisfaction over the Punjabi University Syndicate’s decision to raise their basic salary from Rs 21,600 to Rs 30,000. Lovedeep Singh, president of the association, said, “We cannot accept the Syndicate’s decision as it is just a meager increase in salary. The teachers were already making both ends meet with Rs 21,600.”

Meanwhile, the protesting teachers said they would continue their protest while the university would be shut for the next four days.
