Put squash under gradation policy, demand players

CHANDIGARH:The UT Education Department had recently organised the 64th National School Games in September, however there is no gradation policy for squash.

The UT Education Department had recently organised the 64th National School Games in September, however there is no gradation policy for squash.  Students who wish to make use of the certificate for admissions will be devoid under the sports quota. A total of 29 sport are recognised under gradation policy by the UT Sports Department. Under this policy, players who play for the city  attain reservation of seats in admission to education/technical/medical institutions under the control of the local administration. As many as 30 players partcipated in the squash nationals. Jagpal Singh Assistant Education Officer (AEO) said, “The students seeking admission in the colleges will be affected. However no effect will take place for students taking admission in Panjab University. There are many games which are not included in gradation policy.” 

“We had chosen squash as there are newly built sports complex in the city. From next year, we will shift to hockey.” Meanwhile, District Sports Officer (DSO) Ravinder Singh said, “There is no gradation policy for squash.  Naturally, students will be affected in the admission process for availing any benefit.”
