Panchkula, December 1

The Pinjore police are conducting raids to arrest Nanakpur SMO Dr Sukhraj, who is accused of sexual harassment.

A sexual harassment case under Section 354-A of the Indian Penal Code was registered against Dr Sukhraj on the complaint of an auxiliary nurse midwife at the Pinjore police station.

Yashdeep Singh, Station House Officer at the Pinjore police station, said, “We have already conducted raids at the Community Health Centre, Nanakpur, and his residence at Mansa Devi Complex (MDC), but could not find him there.” The Haryana State Commission for Women has already asked Panchkula CMO Yogesh Sharma to take stringent action against him.

The CMO has also been asked to take required steps to ensure safety of women in all hospitals, community health centres, primary health centres, dispensaries and polyclinics in the district.

In a letter to the CMO dated November 28, Preeti Bhardwaj, vice-president of the Haryana State Commission for Women, stated the CMO had been directed to submit the compliance report within a week.

The victim and other health workers at the CHC, Nanakpur, have accused the SMO of obscene behaviour. — TNS
