Chandigarh, February 21
The helicopter ride will cost visitors less this year during the three-day Rose Festival, which begins tomorrow.
The Municipal Corporation has selected Delhi-based company Dhillon Aviation to provide the joyride at Rs 2,310 per person during the festival. The MC selected the company after it quoted the lowest fare among three companies. The company will share 5 per cent of the earnings with the MC.
Peeyush Mathur, project head of the company, said they had made all arrangements for providing the service. The helicopter ride around the city would take six to seven minutes.
He said they would set up a counter for receiving the fee on the spot at Parade Ground. He said the company would also provide an insurance cover of Rs 1 crore to each rider. Like last year, the chopper service will start at Parade Ground in Sector 17.
In 2017, the fee for the chopper ride was around Rs 3,500, while in 2018, it was Rs 2,380. Mathur said the helicopter service would be provided during all three days of the festival from 8.30 am till the evening.
