The Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology (CCET) in Sector 26, where EVMs have been kept, is being guarded by a three-tier security circle with round-the-clock presence of the local police, the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) and the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). Twelve CCTV cameras have also been installed to keep surveillance.

UT SSP Nilambari Jagdale said there was a three-cordon security at the college with the inner cordon consisting of six personnel of the CAPF.

“The middle cordon has 20 IRB personnel, while the third and the outer cordon has 12 police personnel,” the SSP said.

The SSP added that the security personnel were guarding the centre round the clock. “Three inspectors are also on duty round the clock in three shifts,” the SSP said.

Besides the three-tier security, there is perimeter security as well with a team of the operation cell and the Quick Reaction Team (QRT) stationed outside the college.

The police said two PCR vehicles had also been stationed there. The police are also keeping a close watch on the strongroom and reserve strongroom with the help of CCTV cameras. Twelve cameras have been installed, including at the entrance, which are being monitored.
