The Panjab University Campus Student Council (PUCSC) organised the university general body meeting to discuss round-the-clock opening of the girls’ hostels.

A large number of students came for the meeting and gave their suggestions.  PUCSC president Kanupriya  said, “The issue is not about round-the-clock opening of the girls’ hostels but how to implement it. Students are ready for the removal of the restrictions. This is a regressive measure on the part of the Panjab University authorities. It is in the universities where ideas flourish. Educational institutions should propagate this democratic culture.”

Students discussed a plethora of issues, including security concerns, infrastructure problems, ban on the entry of four-wheelers and outsiders.

They wanted the promotion of the night life on the university campus and said poetry sessions,  discussions and music nites should be organised.

Girls said ensuring their security was the responsibility and  the university.
