Seven booked for assaulting Baltana man

Acting on the complaint of Amit Ranga, a resident of Baltana, the police here on Tuesday registered a case against seven persons under Sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Among those booked, four persons are yet to be identified.

The victim in his complaint to the police had alleged that he, along with his friend, was having snacks at a roadside vend in Baltana on October 4 around 11.30 pm. In the meantime, accused Bakshish Singh, a resident of Baltana, along with his accomplices, came in an Indica car and physically assaulted him. When the victim’s friend, Davinder Singh, who was accompanying him, tried to intervene, the accused also beat him up and fled away.

The police have started investigations after registering a case against the accused at the Zirakpur police station. Further probe is on, said the police.
