The Students for Society (SFS) organised a protest in solidarity with the ongoing Haryana Roadways staff strike on Sunday.

The roadways workers have been protesting against the privatisation in the transport sector for the past few days. The Haryana Government has even arrested a number of workers in this regard.

SFS spokesperson Hassanpreet Kaur said: “Privatisation should not be allowed at any cost. Our governments are working for private players to flourish.”

SFS president Damanpreet said: “The Haryana Roadways strike is a political issue. No employee is on the strike for personal gains. Haryana Government’s response to the protest is condemnable. Since 1991, after the implementation of neo liberal policies, government is favouring corporate entities to enter the public sector. These profit-making entities will ruin the very soul of public entities.”

The SFS demanded immediate release of workers and all false case must be dismissed. All demands of workers must be accepted at the earliest, said the students’ party.
