The matter over allotment of a site for temporary setting up of Jan Aushadhi Centre by Public Works Department (PWD) near Government Rajindra Hospital here still hangs fire as the office of the SDO is yet to submit a field report to the XEN on the matter.

Meanwhile, the SAD leaders who raised the matter have decided to give a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) before moving to court.

The matter of allotment is still pending despite being reported about 20 days ago when it was first reported to the PWD. While the SAD leaders allege that the site was illegally allotted on a part of road outside the hospital, the PWD office is silent on the issue.

Sohan Lal Garg, Executive Engineer, PWD, said he had ordered a field report to be compiled by the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) after a complaint was received from the office of Principal, Government Medical College.

He said the report is yet to be tabled before him. “I can’t comment on it as I am yet to receive the report. The SDO is supposed to submit the report within a day,” he said.

Former Mayor Amarinder Singh Bazaz said it was an attempt to grab government land illegally. “The PWD issued the NOC without following rules. The centre has been allotted land on the sidewalk. We will submit a memorandum to the DC tomorrow. We will wait for a week and then will move to court. The matter should be taken to its logical end.”
