Six booked for drinking at public places

CHANDIGARH: During a special drive to against the consumption of liquor at public places, the Chandigarh Police booked six persons for consuming liquor in cars.

Chandigarh, August 10

During a special drive to against the consumption of liquor at public places, the Chandigarh Police booked six persons for consuming liquor in cars. Owner of a food joint in Sector 40 was also booked for serving liquor.

The police said they had received information that some people were consuming liquor outside eating joints in Sector 40 following which a raid was conducted. Those who were allegedly consuming liquor in cars have been identified as Manish Sharma, Rajbir Singh, Paramjit Singh, Harmeet Singh, Sarabjeet Chawal and Amit Kumar.

“Gurwinder Singh, owner of Bhatia Chicken Corner, who was found serving liquor to them, has also been booked,” said a police official.

The police also seized their cars. A case has been registered at the Sector 39 police station.
