Snatchers strike thrice in city

CHANDIGARH: Three snatching incidents were reported from the city on Monday.

Three snatching incidents were reported from the city on Monday.

In the first incident, two unidentified pedestrians escaped after snatching Rs 7,000 in cash from a man at Sector 43 here on Monday afternoon.

Sources said the complainant, Ganesh Balaji of Solan, Himachal Pradesh, stated that two unknown snatchers targeted him near an SBI ATM in Sector 43. The police were informed about the incident. They have started investigating the matter.

In another incident reported around 10 pm, two pedestrians, who seemed to be in their early twenties, fled after snatching a purse containing Rs 600 in cash and documents from a person on the Mansa Devi road, Mani Majra.

The police were informed about the incident after which a team was rushed to the spot. Cops at the Mani Majra police station have started an investigation into the matter.

Yet another snatching was reported at around 10.30 pm from Dhanas. Sources said two motorcycle-borne miscreants escaped after snatching a mobile phone from a person near a bank in Dhanas. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
