CHANDIGARH:Hosts Sports Complex (Sector 7) girls won the junior title on the penultimate day of the State Volleyball Championship here today.

Hosts Sports Complex (Sector 7) girls won the junior title on the penultimate day of the State Volleyball Championship here today.

The Sector 7 outfit posted a straight-set 25-17 25-18 25-12 win over Government Model Senior Secondary School (Sector 26) to win the final.

Itika was the top performer for the winners, while Babita emerged as the best player for the runners-up.

The Sector 7 team had earlier won a keenly-contested semifinal against Star Club (Sector 46). Star Club took the first set 25-18, but the Sector 7 girls bounced back strongly to win the next three sets to confirm their berth in the final with 18-25 25-18 25-20 25-13 win. 

In the second semifinal, Government Model Senior Secondary School defeated DAV Club (Sector 8) 25-15 25-13 25-16. Meanwhile, in the junior boys category, DAV Club defeated Panjab University 25-20 25-20 25-15, while Athletic Club recorded a 25-16 25-15 22-25 25-17 win over the Sector 8 team to reach the final.
