This year, an 87-foot tall effigy of Ravana has been installed at Sector 46 in Chandigarh.

Shri Sanatan Dharma Dasehra Committee at Sector 46 will ensure a grand celebration with a 87-ft  Ravana, 82-ft Meghnada and 80-ft Kumbhakarna — which will be the tallest in Chandigarh.

Besides, LED screens will be installed around the venue for the audience. Jatinder Bhatia, chief of the Dasehra committee, said nearly one lakh people from surrounding areas are expected to come here.

He said Ravana’s statue would be erected on a chariot. Amritdhara that emerges from the Ravana’s navel and fireballs that emanate from his eyes will be the centre of attraction.

Dasehra will be celebrated at 33 places in the city. The prominent ones include Azad Dramatic Club at Sector 20, Panjab University, Sector 15, Garhwal Ramlila Mandal, Sector 28, and Sector 7. — TNS
