While the PU is gearing up for its 68th convocation on April 28 at the Gymnasium Hall, a notice given to students has stirred commotion. "The notice states that parents will not be allowed at the convocation," said Arshdeep Kaur, who is a graduate in Fashion and Lifestyle Technology from the PU.

She said: "Being a gold medallist of the department, I have been invited for the convocation, but I want my parents to be allowed at the occasion. I have already written to the PU-VC and the Registrar."

Visha Choudhary, who also graduated from the Department of Fashion Technology, said: "This is an achievement and my parents should be part of it."

Meanwhile, Controller of Examination Parvinder Singh said: "More than 900 students will be present at the convocation and  the hall can accommodate only 1,100. We don't allow parents during the first half of the ceremony, but when a few seats get vacant in the second half, we allow them to join in."
