Kharar: Tarsem Singh, who worked as a Head Constable at the Mullanpur Garibdass police station, died of swine flu on Friday. According to Rajesh Hastir, Station House Officer (SHO), Mullanpur Garibdass, he had fallen ill a few days ago and was admitted to a private hospital in Kurali. He was discharged from the hospital after treatment but fell ill again. Tarsem was taken to a hospital in Sohana. On diagnosis, he was referred to the PGI, Chandigarh, for treatment, where he breathed his last. OC
Principal appointed
Patiala: Dr Harjinder Singh has been appointed as the interim Principal of the Government Medical College, Patiala. A senior urologist, Harjinder Singh, who holds the Master of Surgery in urology, was serving as the Vice-Principal of the college for a year and a half. Singh said, “As a Principal, to maintain an all-inclusive environment will be my priority.” When asked about the 24-hour lab facility, he said, “I will make sure that the hospital runs 24-hour labs soon.” TNS
Two booked in assault case
Kharar: The Sadar police here registered a case under Sections 34, 323, 341, 452, and 506 of the IPC against Major Singh and Dharminder Singh, both residents of Machi Khurud village, for assaulting Balwinder Singh of the same village. The complainant alleged that the suspect attacked him with iron rods. OC
Bodybuilding meet today
Mohali: Mohali Amateur Bodybuilding and Fitness Association will organise the seventh Mr Mohali, second Classic Mr Mohali and fifth Mr Kurali Bodybuilding Championships on February 17 at Vishwakarma Hall at Kurali. The weighing-in and pre-judging will be held from 10 am to 12 pm at the tournament venue. The final pose down will begin at 1 pm. The championship will be held in 55kg, 60kg, 65kg, 70kg, 75kg, 80kg, 85kg and +85kg weight categories, the organisers said here on Saturday. TNS
