Chandigarh, April 22
As part of the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO) here, a talk on “Understanding the Quality Infrastructure of India” was delivered by Dr DK Aswal, Director, National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi, on Monday.
He said to achieve high economy and high lifestyle standards, quality infrastructure was needed to bind the government, industry, universities, science and technology, civil society and the media.
Describing quality infrastructure services as conformity assessment, calibration and testing, certification and inspection, he said factors like metrology, standardisation and accreditation were required for achieving it. He also emphasised that improved product quality and compatibility, decreased environmental impact, enhanced safety and health standards and increased international trade were not possible without quality infrastructure. — TNS
