Kharar, October 15

A large number of teachers under the banner of Sanja Adhiapak Morcha District Mohali took out a candle march in the late evening here today. They were protesting against the Punjab government’s decision according to which salaries of the RSA and RASMA teachers were reduced by 65 per cent.

Teachers with candles in their hands marched in a procession which passed through various parts of the town, and raised anti-Punjab government slogans.

Later, all teachers went to the residence of Punjab Technical Education Minister Charanjeet Singh Channi and held a sit-in. While raising anti-government slogans they alleged that the minister and the education sector were trying to malign the atmosphere of Punjab by presenting wrong data.

Their agitation would continue till their demands were accepted by the state government, they added.
