Teachers to go on mass casual leave

CHANDIGARH:Teachers of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Punjabi University and government colleges of Punjab have decided to proceed on a mass casual leave and join mass rally at Panjab University (PU) under the banner of the Punjab Federation of University and College Teachers Organisations (PFUCTO).

Chandigarh, February 20

Teachers of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Punjabi University and government colleges of Punjab have decided to proceed on a mass casual leave and join mass rally at Panjab University (PU) under the banner of the Punjab Federation of University and College Teachers Organisations (PFUCTO).

Among several demands of PFUCTO, include implementation of revised UGC pay scales under the Seventh Pay Commission. 

The Government College Teachers Association (Punjab) president, Dr BS Tohra, highlighted the pitiable condition of government colleges in the absence of regular teachers. 

“The strength of regular teachers’ in government colleges of Punjab is down to 510 against cadre strength of 1,873,” he added.
