Police officials on Friday took two protesting female teachers and a male teacher to a hospital after their health deteriorated.

The teachers under the banner of the Sanjha Adhyapak Morcha have been protesting the three-fourth cut in the salaries.

These teachers are part of 8,886 teachers recruited under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), Adarsh schools and model schools.

The teachers have been identified as Pardeep Verma from Amritsar, Jaspreet Kaur from Sangrur and Jaswant Singh.

Atinderpal Ghagga, district president of the Democratic Teachers Front (DTF), said, “We held a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Kumar Amit on Friday. We will hold a rally near Sirhind road and later march towards Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh’ residence on October 21. Teachers from all over Punjab will join us in the protest march.”
