Chandigarh: A theft was reported from a temple at Kaimbwala village from where cash and other valuables were stolen.



Chandigarh: A theft was reported from a temple at Kaimbwala village from where cash and other valuables were stolen. According to the police, complainant Shiv Kumar reported that a necklace, a parasol and Rs 1,800 were stolen from a donation box, besides Rs 8,000 that was lying in the temple. The theft took place on the intervening night of November 30 and December 1. A case has been registered against an unknown person at the Sector 3 police station. The police said the footage of CCTVs installed in the temple was being scrutinised. TNS   

hotel employee assaulted, 3 held

Chandigarh: Three men have been arrested for assaulting a 50-year-old employee of Hotel Mountview in Sector 10 here. The incident was reported on November 30. The suspects, identified as Karamjit Singh, Vaibhav Soni and Tejwinder Singh, were arrested on Sunday. They were allegedly drunk when they attacked the victim, Mohan Lal, at the hotel’s coffee shop. Mohan Lal  received injuries on his head and back. He had objected to their behaviour, which led to the attack. The victim was kicked and punched, while one of the suspects hit a glass on his head. The police reached the spot on getting information about the incident. The suspects also allegedly misbehaved with the cops. After their arrest, they were produced in a court, which sent them to judicial custody. TNS

Bag stolen from reception party

Chandigarh: A bag containing cash and jewellery of groom’s mother was stolen during a reception function at a park in Sector 37 here. Complainant Babita reported that an unknown person stole her hand bag containing Rs 50,000, one pair gold tops, one pair anklet and a mobile phone during the reception party of her son in Sector 37 on November 29. A case of theft has been registered against an unknown person. TNS

495 challaned for plastic use

Panchkula: As many as 495 challans have been issued for use of single use plastic here in the past three months. Those challaned include restaurants and provisional stores. Even consumers were also issued challans. A unique exchange programme is also going on, under which half a kg of milk is provided in exchange of 10 used plastic bottles at four Vita booths in Sector 7, 8, 9 and 11, allotted by the Municipal Corporation.
