Thieves decamped with cash and valuables from the residence of a retired Chief Engineer, Vinod Kumar Gupta, in New Sunny Enclave here. Vinod said he, along with his wife, had gone to New Delhi on July 8.

They returned home late on Saturday night only to find their house locked from inside. They climbed the house using the stairs of their neighbour. The couple found that thieves had stuck their house.

Before going to Delhi, they had engaged a watchman. However, the thieves enter the house from the roof. The watchman said he used to sleep outside the house and did not know what was happening inside.

The thieves even damaged the CCTV cameras of the neighbours before committing the crime and even took the DVR along. The thieves took away laptops, gold and diamond jewellery and Rs 4 lakh.

After getting information, the Kharar SHO reached the spot and started investigations. A case has been registered.
