PATIALA:The police have nabbed three persons for allegedly using fake currency notes at a petrol pump in Patran town of the district.

The police have nabbed three persons for allegedly using fake currency notes at a petrol pump in Patran town of the district. The suspects have been identified as Shamsher Singh, Sandeep Singh and Sandeep Kumar.

The suspects were booked under Sections 420, 489-B, 489-C and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code. The police said it was suspected that they were running a fake currency racket. However, the entire picture would be clear after they get the police remand of the suspects. The police said the suspects had been printing fake currency of Rs 100 denomination so that they could not come into the notice.

The Station House Officer, Patran, said: “We got inputs from a petrol pump where these suspects have been using the fake currency notes of Rs 100 denomination. After identifying the suspects through CCTV footage, the owner caught them red-handed and informed us immediately. We are suspecting that the suspects were running a racket of fake currency notes. The suspects are unemployed. Three of them have been nabbed while their Haryana counterpart is yet to be arrested.”
